Helloooooooo! How are you?!
Today I will be sharing how to find your style of writing. Now don't fret if you do not find your style right away. In time you will develop a unique way of expressing yourself.
Now what does style actually consist of? Well, it's a mix of your personality, voice, tone, intellect, and sense of humor.
Remember do not try to mimic the style of some other author. At the end of the day you will find that you can't be someone you are not. Just be yourself and your writing style will flow through you.

The plot of your story
Hellooooooo! How are you?!
Today I will be talking about the plot.
What exactly is the plot? Well it is the series of actions your characters take to move the story forward. This contains four layers.
-highest layer: a single sentence that summarizes the story
-next layer: a three act structure, this includes a major disaster that happens that forces the lead character to commit to the rest of the story
-second middle layer: this is also called the scene, this is several pages of action that take place at a single place and time
-lowest layer: the paragraphs of the story

Characters
Helloooooo! How are you?!
Today I am going to be talking about the characters of your story.
What exactly does the word characters mean?
Well it's the players on the stage of your story of course! Each character comes with a long detailed past. Which is also known as their back story. Every character you have is driven in some direction.
Remember you can't have conflict until you have characters.

the three c's
Helloooo! How are youuuuuu?! Tonight I will be letting you in on the three c's of writing fiction.
1 Character
2 contrast
3 conflict
Character
You must have several different strong characters in your story. They must be believable and have recognizable personality traits and mannerisms.
Contrast Examples
light / dark
happiness / tears
love / anger
summer / winter
slow reflected parts of the story / fast reflected parts of the story
Conflict
You must have one or more of these and have them almost always resolved at the end of the story.

Writing your goals as a writer
Helloooo! how are you?! Today I will be talking about setting your goals as a writer. Here is an exercise you can do to help you set your goal before you set off on your journey becoming a successful writer.
step one - take a piece of paper and write down these words
"I'm going to write a novel and get it published. I'm going to do it because writing a novel is worthwhile and because I have the talent to do it."
step two - put the date and your signature at the bottom and hand it where you can see it every day.
This can also help motivate you when you get into a writing slump and lack self confidence.

Picking a lable for your book
Hellooo! how are you?!
Today I will be talking about picking a label for your new book.
Why have labels? Well they make two kinds of distinctions. The first one is the genre of the book. Secondly it defines your target audience.
Now there are different types of genres to choose from.
- romance
- thriller
- mystery / crime
- science fiction
- fantasy
- horror
- general/ literary
- inspirational
- children
- young adult
- adult
There must be one primary category for your book. You can mix categories as well, but one category must remain dominant.
Why have a dominant category? Well the dominant category determines where the book store or library chooses to shelf your book.

- writing for a certain age
how old are they
each age has different reading habits
each age group responds differently to cover art, tittles, back cover
knowing the age group also helps to build a marketing plan for your book
Exercise (optional)
write a paragraph describing your ideal reader as precisely as you can. Include : age, gender, hobbies, thought patterns, likes, and dislikes. Don't edit it until the next day and then save if for later when you begin to write your book.
